Kymi is a charming port town that is located on the eastern coast of the island of Evia, approximately 87km from the capital of Chalkida. There are around 3000 residents in Kymi and it is the capital town of the Karystos region of Evia.
The town if a very pretty one that was built amphitheatrically on a hill near to the coast and provides some wonderful views stretching out over the Aegean sea. Kymi is often referred to as the "Balcony of the Aegean".
As well as being the main harbour that connects Kymi with the island of Skyros, it is a very historic and interesting town with a rich and varied history. It has a strong maritime tradition and in the 19th century had a very strong economy.
The export of a variety of local products including olive oil, silk and wine were the main sources of income for the town, and their products were exported all over the country.
